And a disbeliever will say, “Oh, I wish I were dust! (An-Naba-40).
Observance is the first step to find the truth. The book of Allah is pure wisdom and reveals what lies in the future.
As soon as I read this verse, I stopped and thought “Aren’t we already created from dust (soil)?”
Why would disbelievers say such a thing on the day of judgement? They wish they were dust.
I went through Tafseer. Allah says His justice is absolute. On the day of the judgement every wild, beast, cattle, insect means all kinds of animals would be gathered and judgement would be held. Hazrat Muhamamd (Peace be upon Him) stated a horned sheep that harmed an unhorned sheep will retribute (Sahih Muslim (2582) and Riyad as-Salihin (204). Once all grievances between animals are settled, Allah will command them to turn into dust/soil and they would become dust. They will not be accountable like humans would be for their sins and disbelief in the signs of Allah.
Looking at animals becoming soil and not being sent to hell or heaven permanently make disbelievers wish to be animals in the world so that they would haven’t sin and wouldn’t have been burnt into hell forever.
Allah shows the right path every moment we sin, choice of us makes the difference. Allah has told us about the present, the past and the future. Nothing is hidden except what Allah has hidden from us.
May we see and embrace truth and save our lives on the day of the judgement? Ameen.
