A Muslim believes he and everything else belongs to Allah. The meaning of this belief is that he doesn’t own anything. The true owner is Allah. He (Allah) owns everything. Whatever Allah has given to His person, is the trust to that person that he has to guard and protect and use in a way Allah ordains him to do.
A person is not an owner of his being in the world. His eyes, ears are not his eyes and ears. Likewise, his whole body, the soul and everything that he has in his property is not his. Everything that he thinks as his property and uses whatever the way he thinks suits him better, is not his at all.
Allah is the owner and gives things to the person as trust (Amanah). So, when a person doesn’t own anything, he has to use the given things as Allah has commanded to use. Use eyes to see what Allah loves him to see, hear what Allah loves him to hear. The person doesn’t have to feel sorrow when Allah takes the given things away or doesn’t have to manipulate for any mean that Allah doesn’t command.
Taking care of trust (Amanah) of all those things given to us, is the biggest responsibility to be undertaken. We will be answerable for things we misuse, hurt, overuse, manipulate, and make them means to hurt others.

I reflected that from centuries, human is a slave of his desires and hurts himself when he doesn’t get the things he desires to have. In pursuance of his desires, he hurts his body, heart and soul forgetting that those are the trust (Amanah) to him. Those are given to him so that he can meet the expectations of Allah and use them to please Allah and save himself from the doomsday here and hereafter.
If we understand this, we get a track to be righteous: a nice human being and a person of a good heart and a mind that loves Allah and try to please Him in every best way possible.

Honestly, reading this feels like a big reminder that nothing is really “mine” not even my own eyes, ears. It’s kind of humbling (and scary) to think that everything is just an Amanah from Allah, like being handed the class register by the teacher you better not lose it or misuse it! The way you explained it makes me realize that chasing desires blindly. In the end, it’s all about using what we’re given the way Allah wants, otherwise we’ll be answerable for it.
